Prayer of Consecration

A beautiful and gentle anthem, "A Prayer of Consecration" works for almost any Sunday. And it's lush chords at the beginning are an easy and palatable way to teach dissonance. I've even done this with a good youth choir. They loved it, too!

SATB choir, piano, and oboe (or flute). Actually quite easy to learn. Even the dissonance comes together with little trouble.

Composer Notes:

Towards the end of the middle section "that the Lord our God is with us." Build to "God" and don't give away the quiet part.

The dissonance I call "shimmer chords". Even though the dissonant chords are consecutive, I wrote the parts so that each individual part's melody is easy to learn: any dissonant note is immediately followed by a consonant note thru resolution.
